Alicia Shah is the Vice President of Legal Strategy at Tenstorrent. Previous to Tenstorrent, she was the group lawyer for the nearly 20,000-strong design engineering group at Intel. In that role, she was afforded the opportunity to advise on the legal implications of Intel’s “big bets,” including its participation in open source and standards bodies, M&A, government projects, collaborative partnerships, etc. Alicia also advised Intel’s “labs” organization, which focused on long-range technologies like quantum computing, AI, and secure compute. Alicia joined Intel by way of an acquisition; Alicia was the Director of Intellectual Property at Altera when it was successfully acquired by Intel in 2015. In that role, Alicia managed Altera’s copyright, trademark and patent strategy as well as Altera’s patent litigation docket.
Alicia sought out a job in the semiconductor space after learning about the technology while representing a foundry in a major patent dispute. As an associate and then partner at Kirkland, Alicia had a chance to represent the largest and most innovative companies in the world in their “make or break” litigation. Alicia’s start at Kirkland followed a clerkship where she had the exceptional opportunity to be mentored by a top judge in the United States, the Honorable Sandra S. Ikuta, at the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Alicia graduated from the University of Michigan for her undergraduate and law degrees. Her undergraduate degree is in Mechanical Engineering. She is an inventor on three patents, all in the area of fluid mechanics.
