Anan Sivananthan is an Intellectual Property litigation partner at Bird & Bird ATMD. He has extensive experience in Patent litigation, Patent management and monetisation, Trademark litigation, Geographical Indications disputes and other high value IP dispute resolution matters, as well as managing anti-counterfeiting issues.

Over the years, he has been Lead Counsel in major Patent lawsuits in Singapore and has also handled patent disputes internationally, and Lead Counsel in many Trade mark lawsuits in Singapore and managed Trade mark disputes internationally. These matters span many sectors, including Technology, Life Sciences & Healthcare, Retail & Consumer, Hospitality and Entertainment. Most notably, he has handled disputes in Singapore concerning Geographical Indications, appearing as Lead Counsel in ground-breaking cases before Singapore’s High Court and Court of Appeal.

Before joining the firm in 2017, Anan was associate vice president at a large technology company, where he oversaw the company’s legal matters on a global basis, with a focus on worldwide IP litigation, registration and enforcement. During his 17 years in-house, Anan handled numerous patent lawsuits in the US and Europe, and was involved in many FRAND negotiations.

Anan is a regular public speaker and panellist on IP issues including patent and trade mark litigation, brand management, counterfeiting, and the commercialisation of intellectual property.
