Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS)

Gabriel joined IPOS’ Hearings and Mediation Department in 2016 and serves as Principal Legal Counsel and hearing officer (Principal Assistant Registrar) for disputes that are heard by the tribunal at IPOS exercising the delegated authority of the Registrar.

Apart from adjudication, Gabriel’s core portfolio at IPOS involves policy and promotion work aimed at strengthening Singapore’s status as a hub for IP and technology disputes in connection with the Singapore IP Strategy 2030. In this connection, he has worked on legislation and sub-legislation relating to IP disputes. He also regularly helps to organise, speaks at, and/or acts as moderator in conferences, seminars and lectures relating to IP & tech dispute resolution.

In 2021, the NUS law faculty appointed Gabriel as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Gabriel is part of the founding team at NUS Law that teaches the Intellectual Property Arbitration course (launched in 2020/2021). In addition to international arbitration, the module focuses on the practical aspects of domestic and cross-border IP & tech dispute resolution. Gabriel was also the course convenor of an IPOS team which taught Foundations of Intellectual Property Law at NUS Law from 2019-2023.

Prior to public service, Gabriel practised law in Drew & Napier LLC’s intellectual property department from 2012 to 2016 where he specialised in IP dispute resolution.
