Jan Vanbeckevoort is an inhouse legal counsel and team leader within the business legal team at imec (HQ Leuven, Belgium, and affiliates in EMEA, US and Asia), a non-profit independent R&D organization that performs world-leading research in nano-electronics and digital technology, thereby creating new technologies and inventions all over the R&D life cycle.

Within imec, Jan’s subteam is responsible to provide legal support to the health, automotive and Industry, Consumer & Energy sectors. Jan also provides internal legal advice on trademarks and information security.

Prior to this role, he worked several years as legal consultant for an investment group active in software products and IT consultancy. Jan started his professional career as litigation lawyer in Brussels, Belgium between 2013 and 2018. Jan holds a master’s degree in law complemented with an Advanced (LL.M.) Master of IPR and ICT Law at KU Leuven, Belgium.

Jan is an active member of YMC LES Benelux and speaks frequently at national and international conferences on topics including IP strategies and trade secrets.
