Mr Tan Kong Hwee assumed the role of Chief Executive at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) in March 2025. He is deeply committed to IPOS’ mission to drive future economic growth for Singapore through intangible assets and intellectual property.

Prior to IPOS, Mr Tan was an Executive Vice President and Member of the Executive Committee from late 2019 at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). In his 19 years at the EDB, he moved through various exciting assignments. He had the opportunity to develop several industries including aerospace, mobility, design and space, drove account management excellence and dabbled at branding, marketing and public communications. Mr Tan was also posted to Tokyo and London for 6 years.

Mr Tan started his career in the Singapore public service at the Ministry of Home Affairs shortly after he graduated from Kyoto University with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
