Schmuell Lopes Cantanhêde holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation and a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Mr. Schmuell is an Industrial Property Technologist, having joined the INPI in 2001. Since then he has worked as an advisor to
the Director of Trademarks (2001-2004), in the areas of National and International Cooperation (2005-2006) and in specialized activities in the area of trademarks (2006-2012). He also served as Assistant to the Director of Trademarks (2012-2015), Deputy Head of the Studies and Special Projects Service (2012-2014), Deputy General Coordinator of Trademarks II (2015) and Deputy Director of Trademarks (2015-2016), General Coordinator of Trademarks II (2016-2023). In 2023, he was appointed Director of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications.
