Tom is a partner at Powell Gilbert, one of Europe’s leading patent litigation law firms.  He has a particular focus on high-stakes multi-jurisdictional patent and IP licensing disputes.

With a master’s degree in chemistry and biochemistry, Tom has a particular expertise in the life science sector, but also regularly represents clients in disputes covering a wide range of industry sectors and technologies, including engineering, telecoms and electronics.

Tom has extensive experience in devising multi-jurisdictional patent litigation strategies for clients and often takes the role of lead European counsel, with responsibility for co-ordinating multi-jurisdictional legal teams.  Tom was responsible for several of the first cases filed at the UPC and is currently representing clients in UPC proceedings concerning standards essential patents.

He is a frequent speaker at international IP conferences and teaches patent litigation as part of Oxford University’s post-graduate diploma in intellectual property.
