Mr Lim is the Government Chief Sustainability Officer and Deputy Secretary (Special Duties) at Singapore’s Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment. As GCSO, Mr Lim is responsible for coordinating the Singapore Government’s sustainability efforts to realise a sustainable, resource-efficient and climate-resilient Singapore.

He oversees efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of the Singapore Government, upskill sustainability competencies amongst public sector officers, as well as enable communities across Singapore to undertake sustainability projects that promote greater awareness and action.

Prior to this, Mr Lim served in the Singapore Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, the National Research Foundation as well as the Prime Minister’s Office. He started his career as a pilot in the RSAF and retired from the military as the Chief-of-Staff Joint Staff. He subsequently undertook various technology roles in research and industry coordination, public sector technology capability development and advancing technology application in sustainability.

He currently serves as a Board Member in A*STAR, a member of the Sustainability Action Committee at the Singapore Business Federation, as well as the External Advisory Panel on Environmental Sustainability at MINDEF.

Outside of work, Mr Lim volunteers as Vice Chairman of SHINE Children and Youth Services, dedicating his time towards providing greater guidance and opportunities for children and youth at risk.

Mr Lim graduated from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine with a Master of Engineering, and from MIT’s Sloan Fellows program with a Master of Business Administration.
